Rules, Explanations and Rambling about Sportsbetting

Betting options on can often be confusing to the new player. Here is a more detailed explanation of the pros and cons of the different wager types.

Buying Points on the Sportsbook

Buying points can help give you a better line and could possibly be the difference between winning and losing. It's a lot like buying a pack of chocolate chip cookies with less chips but at a cheaper price. Flip side: Each half point costs 10% of juice. Buy too many points and the payout can be very slim. Furthermore, moving a three point line on NFL betting can result in a 20% change of juice.

If Bets versus If Action Bets

If bets are a good way to wager on multiple games without having to parlay. For example, let's say you think both the Lakers and the Clips are going to cover, but you aren't confident enough to parlay the two. You have $500 left in your account and you want to take both teams. You can do an "if the Lake Show wins, place the same bet on The Clips" wager.

The difference between the "if bet" and "if action" wager is simple. With "if action," you can push the game and the next wager will still be placed. I have a headache.

In Running Wagers

You can place wagers during commercial breaks with the in running wagers. The odds are for the game and are adjusted based on the score and who has the ball. Personally, I like gauging the flow of the game and whether or not a player looks like he spent the entire night passing out dollar bills. However, the drawback is a spread can get out of hand before the first timeout and you may miss out on a gimme bet.

Progressive Parlay Sportsbetting

Progressive parlays are an attractive option considering you won't be penalized if one of your team loses. The worst thing that can happen to anyone is placing a four or eight team parlay and having all but one of them hit. It's the worst...possibly worse than death. Really. But with a progressive parlay, you won't have to worry about jumping off that two story building in a fit of rage.

You can use progressive parlays for point spreads only. No wagers on money lines or over/under are allowed. However, progressive parlays don't stop you from doing everything, like picking your nose or throwing sexy parties.

In normal parlays, a push doesn't go against the wagerer. In progressive parlays, a push, tie or no-action result counts as a loss. Considering pushes are common in parlay bets, it can be disastrous for your payout.

Teaser Bet

Teasers are a nice way of adjusting points when the faith isn't as strong in any particular team. If only you could tease religions like you do sports. You could tease Jesus, Allah and Santa Claus in a three team teaser against Satan, Osama and Darth Vader and still come out ahead regardless of who actually won. You can tease basketball up to five points and NFL lines up to seven points, and for any team with Adonal Foyle in their starting lineup, up to 4,000 points.

Other Rules for Wagers and Bonuses

Bonus payouts can only be redeemed if you wager twice the amount of the deposit. All Vegas rules apply to wagers. Multiple accounts are not allowed.
